WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
Despite measures taken by the government and other concerned quarters child labour has increased in the country. The reason behind it is poverty and high inflation, which has touched unprecedented level particularly in the last one decade.
At this juncture, SAVE Trust had laid special emphasis on women around Guntur District and organized them into Self Help Groups (SHG) to conduct income generation activities. They used the funds to run the enterprises and to meet regular household emergency expenses and also to expand their business and their daily average income. Creation of avenues for self employment is one of the alternatives for mitigating the problems of unemployment and poverty. Hence, the idea of introducing an innovative project is to take up income generating activities at micro level to the women and their families.
OBJECTIVE:
To create an enabling environment where the enrolled children are motivated to continue their education induced to refrain from working and households are provided with income generation activities. The approach is to economic empowerment of the households at risk and making their families strong and meaningful.
SAVE Trust conducts awareness and motivation programmes to women and organize them in forming self help groups (SHG) each group consists of 10 members to internally assess their capacity building.
These groups are self–sustained and are running independently. Through the SHGs women are participating in the decision making process. With the income generation programs, Skill Development Training Programs, capacity building programs, welfare programs the women SHGS were self – sufficient and the women were empowered.
