NATIONAL CHILD LABOUR PROJECT (NCLP)

The Collector & District Magistrate and Chairman, National Child Labour Project (NCLP), Guntur after careful consideration of SAVE Trust activities had allotted Two Balahitha Special Child Labour School of NCLP, Guntur. SAVE Trust has been successfully implementing Balahitha Special Schools for Child laborers involved in hazardous and non hazardous activities. This has been funded by the Ministry of Labour & Employment through National Child Labour Project (NCLP).

Children who are identified by both the Mandal Educational Officer (MEO) as well as Assistant Labour Officer (ALO) are enrolled of age group between 9 to 14 years. Each school has two academic/educational instructors and one skill/crafts instructor and one clerk-cum-account working.

In addition to the regular academics these girls were learning the life skills like tailoring, embroidery and other such vocational skills so that they could survive independently in future. Periodically Health check-up programme, cultural and sports meet are being conducted in the special school. NCLP School’s are for children belonging to the below-poverty-line strata of society, who usually land up in menial jobs in an early age.

OBJECTIVE OF THE NCLP SCHOOL:

The main objective of N.C.L.P. is to withdraw children working in hazardous Industries/Occupations/Processes and to rehabilitate them through education, nutrition and skill training in special schools/rehabilitation centers. The children in the special schools are taught formal textual curriculum for a period of three years. The children are also imparted appropriate craft and prevocational training. After completion of the special school education, children are expected to join the formal stream of education.
